KUKE Reinsurance of transport cover on the territory of Ukraine
KUKE enables insurance companies or branches of foreign insurance companies based in the Republic of Poland to reinsure transport insurance contracts in Ukraine.
This new solution allows insurance companies to offer coverage to transport and forwarding companies for losses resulting from extraordinary risks (including war risk) in Ukraine. This will enable Polish entrepreneurs to provide transport services to clients in Ukraine. Under insurance policies guaranteed by the State Treasury, KUKE assumes 80% of the risk, while the insurer bears the remaining 20%. This allows coverage for risks that were typically excluded from insurance contracts.
Who is Reinsurance for?
The reinsurance offer is addressed to insurance companies providing insurance to Polish domestic entrepreneurs, their subsidiaries, or branches of foreign entrepreneurs based in the Republic of Poland.
How it works?
Using KUKE reinsurance requires the insurance company to sign a reinsurance agreement for transport insurance in Ukraine.
The coverage will cover extraordinary risks specified in the Regulation of the Council of Ministers on extraordinary risks assumed by the Export Credit Insurance Corporation, Joint-Stock Company, of October 15, 2025, in particular:
- confiscation
- riots
- acts of terrorism
- armed conflict
if they occurred in Ukraine.
In accordance with the European Commission's decision (SA. 111121 of April 4, 2025):
- the reinsurance agreement is valid for 12 months with the possibility of automatic extension, until the Program remains in force,
- the estimated budget of the measure is PLN 6.4 billion.
